Our surf club is the ONLY surf club in Australia to feature a genuine wood fired chargrill, all our steaks are cooked over this iron bark fuelled coal pit giving them a sweet smokey taste you won’t find anywhere else. You can watch our chefs cooking up your delicious steaks on this impressive piece of equipment in our state of the art open kitchen. You can enjoy our delicious food listening to the waves on our stunning deck or inside where we’ve created a comfortable eating area with uninterrupted views of the ocean. Whatever your choice, you are certain to enjoy our fantastic service, delicious food and breathtaking views. The restaurant is also open for breakfast every Sunday morning. Bio Brad Fechner – Head Chef
Brad Fechner is one of the very experienced Head Chef’s we have at Coolum Beach Surf Club.
Brads goal has been to expand his knowledge and experience in the hospitality trade helping project the Coolum Surf Club successfully into the future providing value for money (in vogue) and new choices to complement the outstanding view.
Brad qualified in 2000 as a Chef in Melbourne before relocating to the Sunshine Coast, furthering his cooking skills speed and accuracy at the Grapevine Restaurant in Cotton Tree, Cafes on Eagle Street and various other locations on the Sunshine Coast including the Brightwater Hotel, Parklands Tavern, Bellvista Tavern and formally The Cooroy Hotel.
Brad is most proud of the resurgence and consistency of the Cooroy Hotel over the 2 year prior to commencing at the Coolum Beach Surf Club.
Brad prides himself on endeavouring to provide great service and food each and every time someone visits the Club
When Brad does leave the Surf Club kitchen he enjoys the beach with his family, Sonia, Lily and Jake. Football, Golf and windsurfing are his favourite sports.
Bio Tim Searle- Sous Chef
Tim joined the surf club kitchen over Christmas 2016 after a 2 year stint as Executive Chef for a Craft Brewery and Gastro Pub in West End.
Tim has joined his former kitchen Cooroy Hotel and Bellvista Tavern collaborator Brad Fechner at the helm of the surf club kitchen with a goal of sourcing the finest local ingredients prepared fresh in house with passion and respect and served innovatively at a fair price.
As a Sunshine Coast local and Family Man, Tim prides himself on the community contributions that the club is able to provide to the Coolum Beach locals.
In his downtime from the club Tim enjoys watersports and long walks on the beach. Tim is Leo and his favourite colour is green.
Open seven days a week. We use a special blend of piazza Doro coffee and also offer up a delicious selection of cakes, biscuits, milk shakes, iced drinks, local gourmet ice cream and have a delicious selection of wraps made to order by our chefs.
